Hiles cites curbed spending for GDP growth, strong consumer confidence

Texas has the population and land mass to be its own nation, and if it were, it would boast the twelfth largest gross domestic product (GDP) in the world. According to real estate developer and investor Marcus Hiles, this is largely due to a focus on decreased government regulation and spending. “Over the past decade, our leaders have created an environment for businesses and residents to thrive,” Hiles says. “We have no corporate or personal income tax, and during each session, the Legislature curbs spending growth.” To see similar success, Hiles urges other states to follow the lead of Texas.
